‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child‘ is one of the most interesting Harry Potter books because it contains three generations of characters in it. From Minerva McGonagall, Severus Snape, and even the portrait of Albus Dumbledore to Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and Draco to Albus, Scorpius, and Rose, this range of rich characters across generations was seldom seen in any Harry Potter book before. Furthermore, this play does justice to the notion that everybody makes mistakes, and even children can sometimes be very wise and intelligent. The rapport between the characters in this play is very interesting and fun to witness.
Albus Severus Potter
Albus Severus Potter is the younger son of Harry Potter. He is the major protagonist in ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child‘ and is an interesting but confused teenager trying to figure things out amidst the growing weight of his father, Harry Potter’s shadow. He was named after Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape, which along with his parentage, naturally incites several expectations.
However, Albus does not want to dwell on any of these and starting from making friends with Scorpius Malfoy and getting sorted in Slytherin, Albus makes a variety of choices that would not be expected from him. He also steals the Time-Turner from the Ministry with his accomplices Scorpius and Delphi to go back in time and save Cedric Diggory, which eventually results in causing a whole host of problems. However, eventually, he helps solve all the problems and makes peace with Harry about the legacy, and they both bond as father and son.
Scorpius Malfoy
Scorpius Malfoy is the son of Draco Malfoy and Astoria Malfoy. He is one of the major protagonists in ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.’ He is a very chatty and enthusiastic boy who, sadly, is the butt of several jokes and rumors about his true parentage. Many people believe that he is the son of Voldemort. Albus, however, rubbishes this rumor and becomes friends with him. Scorpius is also in Slytherin, like Albus, and they become the best of friends. However, Scorpius’s mother, Astoria dies when Scorpius is in his third year.
Scorpius eventually helps Albus steal the Time-Turner, and they both try to save Cedric. However, in their second attempt, Scorpius is faced with a world ruled by Voldemort alone, as Albus isn’t even born, as Harry Potter was killed by Voldemort in this universe. They eventually set everything straight. Scorpius, too, like Albus, has issues with his father, Draco, and towards the end of the play, they try and solve it.
Cedric Diggory
Cedric Diggory was a sixth-year student at Hogwarts and a Triwizard Tournament champion representing Hogwarts alongside Harry before he was killed by Peter Pettigrew on the orders of Voldemort. This happened after Harry and Cedric got teleported by the trophy, which was a Portkey, after they won the tournament.
However, in the story of ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,’ after Amos Diggory asks Harry to go back in time using a Time-Turner and save Cedric, Albus, and Scorpius with the help of Delphi, go back in time to save Cedric. They repeatedly cast spells and insult him, hoping he won’t make it till the third task. In the first two realities, we only hear about Cedric, with him turning into a Death Eater in the second and killing Neville Longbottom. In the third alternate reality, we see Cedric in the play, and he saves Albus and Scorpius amidst the Triwizard Tournament task from Delphi.

Lord Voldemort
The prime antagonist of the Harry Potter book series, Lord Voldemort, was a very strong dark wizard whom almost everybody in the wizarding world feared. Voldemort was defeated by Harry Potter in a battle fought at Hogwarts. However, in ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,‘ Voldemort makes only one appearance.
This happens when Harry, Hermione, Draco, Ron, and Ginny, along with Albus and Scorpius, have caught hold of Delphi but suddenly, the time for Voldemort’s arrival in Godric’s Hollow approaches. This scene shows the historically accurate version of what happened the day Harry was saved from Voldemort by his parents and Voldemort disappeared.

FAQs
What did Ginny do after Hogwarts?
Ginny Weasley is seen in ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child‘ as a mother of three and married to Harry Potter. It is also revealed by Malfoy during a heated argument with Harry that Ginny is the editor of The Daily Prophet’s Sports Section. However, J. K. Rowling has also elaborated on Ginny’s career after her time at Hogwarts and has claimed that Ginny went on to have a successful career as a Quidditch player and is said to have played for the Hollyhead Harpies. After this tenure as a Quidditch player, she is said to have gotten her job as the editor in The Daily Prophet.
Who is cousin Victoire in Harry Potter?
Cousin Victoire is a reference to Victoire Weasley, the daughter of Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour. She only appears in a short part of ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,’ in its epilogue, the scene from which ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child‘ begins. She is said to be kissing Teddy Lupin, the son of Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks and godson to Harry Potter. Victoire is said to have started her education at Hogwarts after 2010. Victoire is part Veela, as her mother, Fleur is also part Veela.
Who is the Cursed Child in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child?
While it feels like there should be an obvious answer to this, it is never clear or explicitly stated as to who the Cursed Child in ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child‘ is. It could be Albus Severus potter as he is the one who is referred to as having a dark cloud around him by Bane. It could also be Scorpius Malfoy, whose mother, Astoria, suffers from a blood malediction curse that leads to her death. It could be Astoria herself, as she is the only one who is literally cursed, but this premise is far-fetched for the purpose of the play. It could even be Harry Potter as his childhood continues to cause problems for him and everyone he loves. In the end, there is no real explicit answer to who the cursed child is.
